A Salt Lake City woman displays her gleaming dental implantsThe holidays are just around the corner, and things might start to get a little hectic. It can be easy to forgo your good habits amidst the holiday chaos, including the proper care for your dental implants. Our Salt Lake City patients are encouraged to enjoy the fun of the season, but remember not to sacrifice your oral health routine.

Warr Dental is always eager to answer any questions you may have regarding dental hygiene or your dental implants. Luckily, dental implants are very simple to clean. Here are some simple tips to help your smile stay healthy and strong throughout the holidays.

  • Brush: Your regular brushing regimen should be fine, but share your brushing technique with Dr. Warr to make sure you’re adequately caring for the implant area.
  • Floss: Implants are artificial, but the gums and area surrounding your implant are not. It’s important to ensure that no bacteria harms your implant’s surrounding teeth.
  • Toothpaste: Toothpaste with fluoride won’t harm your implants, but avoid abrasive cleaning agents like baking soda and specialty toothpastes for stain removal.
  • Specialty brushes: It can be helpful to get a smaller, proxy toothbrush to help reach difficult areas around your implant.

If you don’t already have implants, the holidays are a perfect time to examine the state of your smile. You won’t be able to complete the implant process this holiday, but imagine yourself at this time next year, enjoying the season with a strong, beautiful smile.
