Many patients find that metal restorations not only make their smiles less attractive but tend to lose strength with age. Whether this is the first time you've damaged a tooth or you've had metal fillings for a long time, Dr. Keith Warr helps patients in and around Midvale strengthen and enhance the look of their smiles with metal-free fillings.

Tooth colored fillings are made from composite resin rather than gold or metal amalgam. This metal-free material has a number of advantages over traditional restorations, including:

  • Better appearance: Composite is white and can be matched to correspond with the shade of your natural enamel
  • Greater stability: Metal-free fillings don't change in response to hot and cold temperatures within the mouth
  • Safety: No risk of mercury exposure from degraded metal

Metal-free fillings can also prolong the life of a restored tooth. Dr. Warr can preserve more of the healthy portions of the tooth when first filling it with composite than dentists previously could with metal materials.

Over time, gold and metal amalgam fillings also lose durability. A weak filling weakens the tooth structure, but a metal-free replacement can restore strength before the tooth becomes unstable.

To find out if metal-free fillings are right for you, please contact Warr Dental or call (801) 216-3713 today to schedule your personal consultation. Dr. Warr welcomes patients from Midvale and other communities near Salt Lake City.
