Professional whitening is an affordable, low-impact way to restore luster to your smile. But many of our West Jordan patients want to know: What should I expect from teeth whitening?

It’s important to remember that no cosmetic dentist can guarantee results. However, Dr. Keith Warr has helped many patients restore anywhere from seven to 10 shades of brightness using the Zoom! in-office teeth whitening system.

Some patients are able to see sufficient aesthetic improvement after only two to three shades of whitening, while others need more extensive treatment to remove stubborn stains. One of the key benefits of whitening at a dentist’s office instead of using over the counter bleaching products is the customization and control your dentist has to meet your unique needs.

Before a whitening session, Dr. Warr will compare the color of your teeth to a shade guide. After identifying the current shade of your stained teeth, you and Dr. Warr will determine the shade you’d like to see after whitening is complete.

Tooth shade guides are divided into four color categories, each arranged in a spectrum from lightest to darkest:

  • Red-brown
  • Red-yellow
  • Gray
  • Red-gray

Ideal tooth whitening results often depend on the natural shade of your enamel. Though it might be tempting for patients with heavily stained or darker baseline color teeth to pursue the “pearly white” look, radically altering the shade of your teeth can make your smile look unnatural.

During your whitening session, Dr. Warr will strive to remove as much staining as possible from your teeth while maintaining a natural appearance. Even if your teeth aren’t a blinding white, a single Zoom! session can still remove unsightly patches and help you smile without feeling self-conscious.

The first step to find out what color will best complement your smile is a consultation at our office near West Jordan. Please contact Warr Dental or call (801) 216-3713 today to learn more about teeth whitening.
