If you’re unhappy with the color or shape of a single tooth and its relationship with surrounding teeth, extensive reconstructive work isn’t necessary. Teeth bonding, also called dental bonding, is a simple, affordable cosmetic dentistry procedure offered by Dr. Keith Warr at our Salt Lake City office.

Dental bonding is just one of the cosmetic treatments we offer to patients in the Salt Lake City area. To learn more about our smile enhancement services, please call Warr Dental today at (801) 216-3713 to schedule a consultation.

What Is Teeth Bonding?

Tooth bonding requires the application of a composite resin to a damaged or discolored tooth to restore the appearance of your smile. Dr. Warr will match the color of the resin to your surrounding teeth so the enhancement will be unnoticeable.

You might be a candidate for bonding on one or more teeth if you’re unhappy with your smile due to issues like:

  • Stains that won’t respond to teeth whitening
  • Cracked or chipped teeth
  • Teeth with an unusual or unattractive shape
  • Gaps between teeth

After lightly preparing the surface of the tooth, Dr. Warr will shape the resin and harden it into place. Further adjustments to the material will then be made so the bonded area has a natural look, fit, and feel.

Benefits of Dental Bonding

Teeth bonding is a conservative option for improving your smile. It requires little to no removal of healthy tooth enamel.

Other advantages of tooth bonding include:

  • Less expense compared to porcelain veneers and many other cosmetic procedures
  • Little to no pain – anesthesia is usually unnecessary
  • A bonding appointment has a low time commitment – one visit lasting no more than 1 hour for each tooth
  • The procedure can be performed entirely in our Salt Lake City office, with no waiting for a lab to fabricate a restoration

Teeth that have been bonded don’t require additional care to keep healthy. Just brush and floss your teeth like normal, and be mindful not to bite down too forcefully or chew on anything too hard. Composite resin is strong, but it can chip and break off when exposed to extreme pressure.
